Firefighting is dirty, dangerous backbreaking
work. After an aggressive attack on a fire, personnel
are often exhausted and fatigued. It is not uncommon for
the worst injuries to occur during the overhaul and clean-up
stages of a fire. The adrenaline is not there, but the
need for heavy lifting is. This includes picking up and
storing fire hose.
After much input from the fire service,
Phenix Technology has re-engineered the Sidewinder to
make it more efficient and cost effective. It no longer
has a 1:1 gearbox. It is 9” longer when folded up and
you can now roll hose on the top or bottom guide.
The Sidewinder is an aluminum and stainless
steel device that is designed for mounting on a fire apparatus
for use at a fire scene. It can also be used in the fire
station after the hose has been washed and dried.
The fold up design of the roller allows
for it to be easily stored on apparatus when not in use.
It is useful on hose diameters up to 3”. It takes less
than 20 seconds to roll up a 50’ section of hose and the
firefighter can do it from a standing position. The hand
crank makes for easy handling of the hose when it is wet.
The unit has been field tested by both forestry and municipal
firefighters under the most adverse conditions.
We feel the quality and longevity of the
Sidewinder will be a valuable asset to your department.
You will benefit from years of service while preventing
possible injuries in the work place. For more information
